This is an important first step for many applications from research to diagnosis, screening and treatment of cancers, infectious diseases, and assisted reproduction.
1. The extraction method utilizes magnetic beads.
There are many different extraction methods, depending on the intended use, the technician chooses the appropriate method. Today, with the advancement of science and technology, scientists have developed many new extraction methods that that optimize procedures, shorten processing time, and enhance quality, prominent among them is the extraction medthod using magnetic bead.
The procedure of this method is based on the use of magnetic beads that are able to selectively bind to nucleic acids, while other contaminants that cannot bind to the beads remain in the solution. After washing process 3 times through washing solution, any remaining contaminants are removed. Finally, the obtained purified nucleic acids can be directly used in molecular biology applications. The magnetic bead extraction method offers several outstanding advantages, including high recovery efficiency, high purity, long-term preservation of the obtained DNA/RNA, fast processing time, and effective application in automated processes.
2. The automated extraction process.
The automation of the extraction process is highly necessary, especially in laboratories with a large number of samples. Automated systems provide comprehensive support for the extraction process. Depending on the sample type, the system will combine appropriate chemicals and protocols, or the device operator can flexibly set parameters to ensure optimal extraction efficiency. As a result, it reduces the workload for human operators and enhances eviction sample efficiency.
To implement the automation process, it is necessary to have an extraction machine as well as the corresponding kit. One of the widely used automated extraction systems today is the Panamax 48 automated extraction machine by Panagene. This system allows for processing large sample volumes up to 5ml without any structural changes. The operation is simple and quick with a multi - channel pipettes and a touchscreen interface. The system includes an automatic magnetic rod and a synchronized UV sterilization system to minimize the risk of cross-contamination.
